FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new client?

Our initial session will be focused on getting to know you and your dog – what a typical day looks like (sleeping times, feeding times, exercise, etc.) as well as your training goals. If relevant, we will also discuss any behavior concerns and the history surrounding the behavior (how long the behavior has been occurring, if you notice anything that triggers the behavior, etc.). We will also work together on preliminary training during this first session.

What if I have questions during my training sessions?

If you ever have questions between sessions or feel stuck while you are practicing training, you can always send us an email/text or give us a call. We also love hearing about successes between appointments, so we encourage you to share successes as well!

How did you get started training dogs?

I served in the Israeli army for 3 years as a commander of the K-9 unit, specifically working with bomb-sniffing dogs. This experience provided me with the opportunity to learn how to connect with dogs and teach them some of the most complex training techniques. Building this connection provides for trust between the owner and dog, which ultimately results in the most successful training and behavior.

What advice would you give to a client looking to hire a professional dog trainer?

Make sure to research the trainer you will be working with to ensure they have an appropriate background as well as positive client reviews. The trainer should offer you a free introductory consult so you can get to know each other to ensure you would be comfortable working together. Most importantly, make sure the trainer will be training both you and your dog!

What is your favorite type of training?

While I enjoy all types of training, I am most passionate about working with dogs that have ‘unique’ behavioral issues. A lot of times I work with clients who become very concerned when their dog seems to exhibit poor behavior out of nowhere, or just adopted a rescue dog that they feel they are unable to control. Together we work to understand the root cause of these issues and find creative ways to help correct the behavior. Ultimately, I never want a client to feel like they can’t help their dog – there is always a solution, we just have to work together to find what works best for your dog!

“Sam was awesome to work with!! He was able to give me the tools that I needed to help my pup transition to the city. Even just after one lesson, we saw an incredible improvement across the board with my dog's engagement and overall behavior. Couldn't recommend anyone more. If you have a dog in the city and need any form of training - Sam is your man!”

“This training has been extremely helpful for us! We were very hesitant about hiring a trainer and considered just watching videos to learn ourselves as there are so many available. We are so happy we started working with Sam, he is worth every penny! He teaches us so much in just an hour and we could never be this successful on our own. He’s professional, listens to all our needs and always has new/great strategies and tricks for our pup. I highly recommend!”

“Sam is great 🙌 he listened to us fully and was able to provide amazing building blocks for training my 7month old husky, Oz
Already seeing progress in my furry friend after one lessons worth of tips from Sam, and very excited to continue to work with him to learn more about how to help Oz be more responsive and calm 🌄”
